Workflow for Mail to MRP Controller 

Implementation Options

If you integrate the sending of a mail to an MRP controller into a workflow, the system also sends the stock/requirements list automatically and you can be sure that the recipient actually accesses and checks the list.

Prerequisites

  • You have set up the permitted users for the workflow in Customizing for MRP in the IMG activity Activate workflow for mail to MRP controller. If you define the workflow tasks as general tasks, all system users can execute the function.
  • In Customizing for MRP, you have entered a mail recipient (individual recipient or recipient group) for the MRP controller in the IMG activity Define MRP controller.
  • You have set up the sending of the mail per workflow as a general transaction call.

Process Flow

  1. You access the sending of a mail to the MRP controller for each workflow by choosing a pushbutton (in the application toolbar above the respective list) or by choosing Environment → Own favorites.
  2. You change the mail and save it.
  3. The recipient receives a work item in the workflow inbox (SAP menü → Office → Work center → Inbox → Workflow).
  4. The recipient opens the work item. It is possible to display:
    • the mail itself
    • the stock/requirements list
    • the material master as an attachment
  1. The recipient closes the work item. The work item disappears from the workflow inbox.

If you send the mail to a recipient group, the work item disappears from the inbox of each individual as soon as one person has accessed and closed the work item.
