Creating a Section (Sectioning) 

Use

The sectioning functions allow you to effectively analyze the geometry of a model, for example, by creating a Section Vertical to Y Axis. You can view different levels. The measurements for the model are created solely for the current processing situation, and cannot be saved.

You can derive decisions for the rest of the process steps from the analysis results.

Procedure

You display the 3D model with the integrated viewer in the standard SAP system. The viewer function bar is active.

  1. Choose Tools → Sectioning.

The system adapts the function bar for the new functions.

You can also use the following functions to display the model in a form suitable for sectioning:

  • Move
  • Center
  • Zoom
  • Zoom into Area
  • Measurements
  • Delete Measurements
  1. To cut a section, choose one of the following sectioning functions:
  • Section Vertical to the X Axis
  • Section Vertical to the Y Axis
  • Section Vertical to the Z Axis

The system opens a second processing window Cross Section.

It is possible that this window is not visible, and that it is in the background even during processing. For example, it may be hidden by a processing window with a SAP GUI. You can set this dialog window in the foreground by using the desktop function on your PC.

  1. You can move the section position in the Cross Section window.
  2. If necessary, change the section level.

You can return to the viewer function bar of the viewer by choosing . You can also end the processing in the Cross Section window.
